Locked Out? What Do You Do?

It is likely that at some point in your life you will experience being locked out of your property. It can be incredibly frustrating especially after a hard day’s work and you return home to discover you have lost your keys. Fortunately, help is always at the end of the phone! A reliable local locksmith will not only be able to help you gain entry to your property but also change the locks and provide you with spare keys if necessary.

Below our team at Acton Locks Locksmith have put together a helpful guide on what you should do if you ever find yourself locked out of your home or business.

Look For Other Entry Points

Have a look around your property for another entry point such as an unlocked back door or open window if it is safe to do so. If you do find another entry point then at least you are in your property and half the battle is won, you can then focus on retracing your steps and attempt to find your keys, if you fear your keys have been stolen or you don’t find another way to access your property then call a local locksmith and they will be able to let you into your property and change the locks if necessary.

Spare Keys

Have a think back and try and remember if you have ever given a trusted friend or family a spare key in case of emergencies or to check on the property while you have been away. If this is the case then you can call them to come and let you in the property then you can concentrate on retracing your steps to try and find your keys, or call a locksmith to change the locks if you fear they may have been stolen.

Carry ID

Most of us will always have some form of id on our person at all times and if you don’t then it might be a good idea to start. If you do ever get locked out, then most reputable locksmiths will ask for some sort of proof that it is your property that they are letting you into. If locksmiths didn’t do this then burglars could call out a locksmith to help them break into your home! By carrying ID with you at least you will be prepared should this ever happen to you.

Find A Reliable Locksmith

There are many national companies out there that are just looking to make some easy money and show poor workmanship, so it is important to do your research. Its worth reading locksmiths online reviews or ask family or friends for recommendations this way you can be sure that you are calling a reliable locksmith.
